The Matrix plan limits how many members a distributor can have directly beneath them — the width — and how many levels deep commissions are paid — the depth. A 3×9 matrix means 3 positions at Level 1 and commissions paid down 9 levels.

Forced placement means when a distributor's Level 1 positions are full, new recruits overflow into the next available position in the matrix — filling the structure automatically. This creates spillover: active recruiters benefit their entire downline by filling lower positions.

When all positions in the matrix are filled — a completion bonus pays out. The matrix then cycles — either resetting for a new cycle or advancing the distributor to a higher board/matrix level. The structured nature of Matrix creates strong team interdependence and makes completion bonuses a clear, motivating goal.

FAQ

Matrix MLM Software — Questions Answered

Matrix MLM software manages a fixed-width, fixed-depth compensation plan. Each position in the matrix has a set number of positions beneath it. A 3×3 matrix has 3 positions at Level 1 and 9 at Level 2 — 13 total. When all positions fill, a completion bonus pays and the matrix cycles. MLMOrbit configures matrix dimensions, placement rules, and completion bonuses during installation.
Forced placement means the system places new members into the next available position in the matrix automatically when a distributor's direct positions are full. The placement follows the configured rule — breadth-first, depth-first, or sponsor preference. Forced placement creates spillover — active recruiters benefit their entire downline by filling positions below them.
A matrix completion bonus is paid when all positions in a distributor's matrix are filled. For example, when all 13 positions in a 3×3 matrix are occupied, the distributor receives the configured completion bonus. The matrix then resets for a new cycle or the distributor advances to a higher level — depending on the installation configuration.
MLMOrbit supports any matrix dimension — 3×3, 3×9, 4×7, 5×5, or fully custom width × depth. The dimension is configured during installation to your exact specification. Our team will discuss the right matrix size for your business model and distributor count during the demo.
